Ancient Altai barrous

Turkic time

The Turkic Time of Gorny Altai is represented by different archaeological monuments. The most famous of which are the barrows and monumental complexes of Koudyrgeh. The interment into south-oriented ground pits with accompanying burial places of horses are characteristic of the Koudergesh monuments of the Turkic Time. As for the dead stock, the remains of bows with curved end on-lays, stirrups with the rectangular loop on its neck, single-ring horse-bits with two-hole cheek-pieces, belts with hanging straps, etc. are found in graves. The dead were provided with ritual food, as a rule, mutton.
